FUNDY FENCING CLUB

Founded in 1994 by Rick Gosselin, Level III Fencing Master. Rick offers group and private instruction from beginner to advanced skills in all three weapons (foil, epee, and sabre). Once per week: $35/Month. Twice or more per week: $45/Month

EQUIPMENT & PRICING

Fencing is inexpensive to get started. Comfortable pants and a pair of sneakers are all you will need in the beginning. The club provides the rest (for a while). Once you've decided that you enjoy the sport and want to stick with it, your own equipment is a must have. One nice thing about our club (one of many) is that when you do decide to purchase equipment, it doesn't have to be done all at once. You may want to start with a mask, although youth fencers seem to like getting their own sword first and foremost! For specific pricing and suppliers, please visit our "Cool Links" page or contact Eric Phinney at Renforth Fencing, who is our local supplier of Fleche Fencing Equipment.

MORE THAN SWORD PLAY

Fencing mixes physical agility with strategy. Fencing is an individual sport that requires alertness, patience and tactical thinking. Many fencers and coaches describe it as a physical game of chess.

EN GARDE!

This distinct phrase might make you think of a renaissance swordsman challenging his (or her) rival to a dual; a fight to the death to protect his own honour. And though the art of sword fighting may be long gone, its concept and romantic image live on today through the sport of fencing.

SAFETY

As with most sports, there is potential risk for injury involved in fencing and we have tried to create a safe and controlled environment for participation. Rules have been established by the Canadian Fencing Federation and Federation Internationale d'Escrime for participation and conduct on or about the practice area that should be followed. By following these rules and by wearing the required equipment, serious injury is uncommon.
